Our wood-burning saunas adhere to the traditional approach of a simple Finnish-style family sauna using natural safe materials and fine craftsmanship. Our saunas are custom-made and handcrafted.

Traditionally, saunas are fired by a special stove that heats a pile of rocks. Water is poured on the rocks to create löyly, steam, which is the authentic sauna experience. The saunas we build are designed as wet spaces and get as hot 100°C + and steamy as you’d like. Buckets of hot and cold water are inside for bathing and shaving. We use vihtas made from dried birch, oak, or maple trees. The leafy branches are soaked in water and used to stimulate the body and all the senses as you sweat.

While my design aesthetic leans towards a formal elegance with rustic appeal, my utmost concern is to build something that meets all the customers’ needs. An ideal sauna location is outdoors and often in a rural location by a stream, lake or pond where you can take a dip into the water year-round.

Custom sauna build prices vary depending on location, site accessibility, foundation requirements, and detailing like stonework, but generally start at around $40,000 for a 8×12 foot on-site build and $29,500 for a 7×8 drop-in sauna built in our shop and delivered to your home. The sauna stove can be fired from the outside or the inside and be completely off-the-grid with solar lights. Wood-burning saunas are not built inside or attached to the house or nearby other structures.
